Lionsgate Sells Asia Streaming Service to President
Lionsgate, a big movie company, sold its streaming service called Lionsgate Play in India and nearby countries to Rohit Jain, who used to be in charge of it.
Lionsgate will still let the service use its name and movies, but Jain will now run it on his own.
The service has about 5 million subscribers and shows Hollywood and local movies.
Experts say this change might help the service grow by focusing more on local content and making decisions faster.
However, it will be challenging because there are many other streaming services in India, and people are watching more local shows.
Lionsgate sold its streaming service, Lionsgate Play, in India and Southeast Asia to Rohit Jain.
Jain will lead the platform independently, while Lionsgate retains other film/TV businesses in the region.
The service has 5 million subscribers and has invested $100 million in content.
Lionsgate Play will continue licensing Lionsgate's brand and content under a multi-year agreement.
Experts suggest localization and faster decision-making could drive growth, but competition is fierce.
