FIIs Continue Buying Streak, DIIs Sell After Six Sessions
Foreign institutional investors, or FIIs, bought a lot of Indian stocks on Thursday, spending about ₹3.6 trillion.
This is the fifth straight day that FIIs have been buying more than they are selling.
Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors, called DIIs, sold stocks for the first time in six days.
Even though DIIs sold, the main Indian stock indices still ended the day higher.
The FIIs’ buying shows they still like Indian stocks, while the DIIs may be taking profits or adjusting their portfolios.
The market stayed positive overall.
This shows that foreign investors are still confident in India’s economy.
Domestic investors are more cautious or looking to balance their holdings.
The day’s activity highlights how different groups trade in the same market.
It also shows that the market can stay strong even when some investors sell.
Foreign institutional investors bought ₹3,623.51 crore of Indian equities on Thursday.
Domestic institutional investors sold shares, becoming net sellers for the first time in six sessions.
The buying streak for FIIs continued, marking five consecutive sessions of net inflows.
Benchmark stock indices finished the day in the green despite DIIs selling.
The inflow represented a ₹3,624 crore net purchase by FIIs.
