6.3-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Philippines, No Tsunami Warning

A big earthquake happened near a small island in the Philippines called Sarangani.

The earthquake was very strong, measuring 6.3 on the scale scientists use.

It shook the ground so much that people ran outside, shouting in panic.

Many people were gathered in one place that day because the government was handing out money to help families.

Luckily, an earthquake under the ocean is less dangerous when it does not cause a tsunami.

Scientists said no tsunami was coming, and there were no reports of anyone getting hurt.

The Philippines has many earthquakes because it sits on a special part of Earth called the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Just a few months before, a much stronger earthquake on the nearby island of Mindanao made buildings fall down and sadly took at least 76 lives.
