Vinfast Aims for India's Top-3 Carmakers in 10 Years
Vinfast, a company from Vietnam that makes electric cars, wants to become one of the top three car companies in India within the next ten years.
They started selling their cars in India in 2025 and are already the fourth largest electric car company there.
The CEO, Pham Sanh Chau, thinks that most cars sold in India will be electric in ten years, which will give Vinfast a big chance to grow.
They have a big factory in Tamil Nadu and plan to sell more types of electric vehicles, including scooters and buses.
Some experts think it will be very hard for Vinfast to reach the top three because there are many other big car companies in India, like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Toyota.
But Vinfast is confident because they have good sales so far and are building a complete system of cars, charging stations, and services.
Vinfast aims to be among India's top-3 carmakers within a decade, starting from its current fourth position in the EV market.
The company launched its first models in India in September 2025 and plans to introduce a new EV every six months.
Vinfast's CEO, Pham Sanh Chau, predicts that 70% of car sales in India will be electric within a decade.
The company has a 400-acre manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, and plans to expand with additional products and partnerships.
Analysts are skeptical about Vinfast's ambitious goal, citing strong competition from established carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Toyota.
