SEBI Considers Changes to Block Deal Framework
SEBI, the financial market rule-maker, is planning to change the rules for big stock trades, called block deals.
They want to increase the minimum amount of money for each trade to ₹25 crore from ₹10 crore.
They also want to let the price change a bit more for certain stocks during these trades.
These changes are designed to improve market transparency and reduce risks.
SEBI proposed increasing minimum order size for block deals from ₹10 crore to ₹25 crore.
The existing threshold has been in place since 2017.
Block deals are executed in special 15-minute windows twice a day.
Non-derivative stocks may have a wider price band of up to 3%, while F&O stocks remain at 1%.
Stock exchanges will disseminate details of block deals after market hours.
