Monsoon Mosquito Menace Raises Dengue Fears Across Hyderabad Suburbs
Many people in parts of Hyderabad say there are too many mosquitoes.
Rainwater is collecting in open plots, drains, lakes and building sites.
These pools can help mosquitoes grow.
Health officials say this weather can increase the risk of dengue.
Residents say fogging is not happening often enough in some inside streets.
They also want dirty drains cleaned and standing water removed.
Malkajgiri officials say they regularly fog areas in the evenings and spray mosquito-breeding places.
They say special teams can be sent when a locality has a serious mosquito problem.
Mosquito complaints are increasing in residential areas under the Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations.
Monsoon-related stagnant water in drains, lakes, quarries and construction sites is creating breeding grounds.
Health authorities warned that intermittent rain and dry spells favor dengue-spreading Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
Residents want regular fogging, cleaned drains, removed stagnant water and ward-wise operation schedules.
The Malkajgiri corporation says it has 18 EV fogging machines and deploys teams to breeding hotspots.
