House Democrats Oppose ICE Funding Bill
Most House Democrats recently voted against a bill to give money to the Department of Homeland Security.
They did this because they think the bill doesn't have enough rules to control what ICE and CBP agents can do, especially after recent shootings in Minneapolis.
The bill passed in the House, but now it needs to go to the Senate.
In the Senate, at least seven Democrats need to support it for the bill to pass.
Democrats are worried about how these agencies operate and want more restrictions on their actions.
If they don't get their way, there might be another government shutdown.
Nearly all House Democrats (207 out of 213) voted against a Department of Homeland Security funding bill.
The main concern was the lack of limits on ICE and CBP agent actions, intensified by recent shootings in Minneapolis.
The bill passed the House but faces a tougher path in the Senate, with Democrats threatening to block it.
At least seven Democratic votes are needed in the Senate for the bill to pass, which is uncertain due to opposition.
The opposition has raised the risk of another US government shutdown, with funding set to expire on January 31.
