India Faces Rising Head and Neck Cancer Cases by 2050
India is expected to see a big increase in head and neck cancer cases by 2050.
Experts at ACTREC, a cancer research center, held a workshop to teach healthcare workers how to spot these cancers early.
They want to make sure more people get checked and treated sooner.
Right now, India has a lot of these cancer cases, and the number is going up.
The workshop also talked about how to stop people from using tobacco, which can cause these cancers.
They even launched a guide to help people learn more about oral cancer.
India's head and neck cancer cases are projected to rise to 5.57 lakh new cases and 2.63 lakh deaths annually by 2050.
ACTREC and Tata Memorial Centre organized a workshop to promote early screening and diagnosis of oral and head and neck cancers.
Over 100 healthcare professionals from Maharashtra attended the workshop to build capacity in evidence-based screening and management.
India currently contributes nearly one-third of the global head and neck cancer burden, with 316,514 new cases and 141,063 deaths annually.
