Congress MP Admits Seeking Foreign Appeals Against FCRA Bill

Congress MP Saleng Sangma said he asked people from several foreign countries to urge India’s government to withdraw a proposed law.

The law is called the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.

It deals with money coming into India from other countries.

The bill is being examined by a parliamentary committee.

Sangma said he also discussed his concerns with India’s president, vice president and ministers.

The government says the bill is needed to protect national security.

Congress and other opposition parties disagree with the bill.

They say it could hurt minorities, while the government rejects that view.
