Russia to Mandate 'Max' Messenger on New Mobile Devices

Russia is making a new messaging app called Max mandatory on all new phones and tablets sold there.

Max is made by a company owned by the Russian government.

It's like WhatsApp or Telegram.

The government says this helps with security and lets Russia control its own internet.

A Russian app store called RuStore will also come pre-installed on Apple devices.

Some people worry Max could be used for spying.

The government says it's safe.

This is happening while Russia is limiting access to other messaging apps.
