Telangana HC Orders Release of Woman for Interfaith Marriage
A 20-year-old woman named Yadla Bhaashyavi wanted to marry her partner, Syed Zafar, who is from a different faith.
Her mother did not agree with this and the police sent Bhaashyavi to a shelter home.
Zafar wrote a letter to the High Court asking for help.
The court listened to both sides and decided that Bhaashyavi, being an adult, has the right to choose who she wants to marry.
The court ordered the shelter home to release her so she can live with her partner.
The court also said that if anything bad happens in the future, Bhaashyavi can go to the police for help.
Telangana High Court ordered the release of 20-year-old Yadla Bhaashyavi from a shelter home, allowing her to live with her partner Syed Zafar.
The court respected Bhaashyavi's status as a major and her right to choose her partner, despite her mother's opposition.
The court noted that in the event of any future untoward incidents, Bhaashyavi can take appropriate legal recourse.
The woman's mother raised concerns about the petitioner's character and criminal history, but the court did not further explore these allegations.
The High Court directed the immediate release of Bhaashyavi from Shakti Sadan and closed the writ petition without any order as to costs.
