India's exports diversify to Asia, Africa
India has been focusing on selling more goods to countries in Asia and Africa instead of just the US and Europe.
This strategy has worked well, with exports to countries like those in ASEAN and Africa growing a lot.
For example, exports to ASEAN grew by 66.9%, and to Africa by 53.1%.
This means these regions now make up a bigger part of India's total exports.
On the other hand, exports to the US and Europe have not grown as much and have even decreased in some cases.
The Indian government started this plan to protect against problems like tariffs and other trade barriers from traditional markets.
Exports to ASEAN and Africa grew significantly by 66.9% and 53.1% respectively, contributing $7.6 billion to total exports.
The share of ASEAN in India’s exports increased to 11.84% from 8.24%, and Africa’s share rose to 12.28% from 9.77%.
Exports to the US declined by 0.1% to $25.4 billion, and to the Netherlands contracted by 18.2% to $4.5 billion.
The combined share of Europe and NAFTA countries decreased from 46% to 41.0%.
The government added 30 more countries to the export promotion focus list, covering 90% of total exports.
