La Niña Continues, Negative IOD Ends: BoM

La Niña Continues, Negative IOD Ends: BoM

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology says that the La Niña weather pattern is still happening in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

This means there might be more rain and storms in some places.

At the same time, another weather pattern called the negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) has ended and is now neutral.

The ocean temperatures around Australia were very warm in November, which can make storms and rain stronger.

The Bureau predicts that La Niña will continue until early 2026, and the IOD will stay neutral until at least the end of autumn 2026.

This means the weather might still be a bit extreme in some places around the world.
