Indian Stock Market Closes Higher, GIFT Nifty Signals Strong Start
The Indian stock market finished the week on a good note, with the big Nifty 50 index and the Sensex both going up.
Traders think the market will open even higher on Monday because a special index called GIFT Nifty is already trading higher.
Many big companies, like ITC and Maruti Suzuki, shared their earnings for the first quarter of 2026.
Some companies did better, like Sun Pharma, while others like ITC saw a drop in profit.
The market regulator, SEBI, stopped the top bosses of a company called ZEEL from trading because they used land as a loan guarantee without proper approval.
People feel more confident in the market after the U.S. said it might talk again with Iran, which could help calm tensions.
Indian stock market closed higher on Friday, with Nifty 50 at 24,383.60 and Sensex at 78,094.64.
GIFT Nifty is trading near 24,580, up over 200 points from the previous close, indicating a strong opening for Monday, 3 August.
Companies such as IREDA, ITC, Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil Corporation, Sun Pharma, and others released Q1 2026 results, showing mixed performance.
ITC reported a 27.1% decline in net profit to ₹3,578.8 crore; Maruti Suzuki posted a 10.8% drop in net profit to ₹3,352 crore; Sun Pharma saw a 27% rise in net profit to ₹2,895 crore.
SEBI barred ZEEL's Managing Director Punit Goenka and Chairman Emeritus Subhash Chandra from the securities market after discovering Hyderabad land pledged as collateral for loans without required approvals.
