TSAT Panel Focuses on Literacy and Numeracy
The education department in Hyderabad had a big meeting called TSAT to talk about how to help young students learn to read and do math better.
They said this isn't a test to rank students but a way to understand how students are doing and help them improve.
The meeting had important people like Dr. Yogita Rana and Dr. Naveen Nicolas, who talked about how teachers can use special methods to teach reading and math.
They also talked about how to check if students are learning well and how to help them if they are struggling.
The goal is to make sure all students can read and do math well by the time they finish Class III.
The education department held a state-wide live TSAT panel discussion to focus on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN).
Dr. Yogita Rana emphasized that the foundational learning study is a tool to understand and develop student capabilities, not to rank them.
The discussion featured key speakers like Dr. Rana and Dr. Naveen Nicolas, along with mandal education officers, school complex headmasters, and teachers.
Dr. Rana stressed the importance of phonics-based reading, mock tests, and remedial support to identify and address learning gaps.
Dr. Nicolas introduced the 5+1 model for integrating assessment into regular school routines, using workbooks to track student learning.
