Bareilly Hospital Fire Prompts Evacuation of Patients

Bareilly Hospital Fire Prompts Evacuation of Patients

A fire started on the top floor of a hospital in Bareilly on Saturday morning.

It happened around 10 a.m., when many people were there for hospital services.

Smoke spread through the building and frightened patients, relatives and workers.

Relatives and staff helped move patients, including very sick people on stretchers.

About 100 patients and attendants were in the ICU and other wards.

Police and firefighters arrived and stopped the fire in about 30 minutes.

The hospital used ambulances to take patients to nearby hospitals.

Officials think an electrical short circuit may have started the fire, but they are still investigating.

The reports also describe an earlier NICU fire in Amravati in which three infants died and six others were treated.
