Nagaland Group Protests Job Quota Policy for Backward Tribes
A group of five tribes in Nagaland are upset with the government's job rules for certain groups.
They want the government to change the rules, either by getting rid of them or giving them more jobs.
These five tribes are part of a committee.
The government was supposed to review these job rules, but they haven't.
On the other hand, some other student groups, who are part of the groups that get special job spots, don't want the rules changed.
They believe that changing the rules would hurt their chances of getting jobs.
The current job policy sets aside 37% of specific jobs for these groups.
Five Nagaland tribes are protesting the government's failure to review job reservation policy.
The Five Tribes Committee represents the Angami, Ao, Lotha, Rengma, and Sumi tribes.
The committee demands to either scrap the reservation policy or allocate the unreserved quota to the five tribes.
The current reservation policy reserves 37% of non-technical, non-gazetted jobs for Backward Tribes (BTs).
Student bodies of three BT communities oppose the five-tribe committee's demands.
