India Replaces Halted Qatar LNG With US, Nigeria Supplies

India usually bought a large share of its natural gas from Qatar.

In August, no LNG shipment arrived from Qatar.

The articles link this interruption to the Iran conflict and a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States became India’s biggest LNG supplier.

It sent 858,500 tonnes in August.

Nigeria became the second-biggest supplier with 540,700 tonnes.

Qatar had previously provided about 45% of India’s gas imports.

India’s government has also encouraged households to use more natural gas because LPG supplies were short.
