Two Pilgrims Die, Forest Dept. Collects Plastic on Velliangiri Hills
Imagine a mountain that many people climb to visit a temple.
Sadly, two people recently died while climbing.
Also, the forest department is working hard to clean up trash left by visitors, collecting over 10 tons of plastic!
To help, they ask people to pay a small deposit for plastic bottles, which they get back if they return the bottles.
This helps keep the mountain clean.
The pilgrimage was also temporarily stopped due to bad weather.
Forest department collected 10.90 tonnes of plastic waste from Velliangiri hills in four months.
Two pilgrims died while climbing the hills on Sunday.
One pilgrim died on the seventh hill, and another on the fifth hill.
The forest department is collecting a deposit for plastic bottles to prevent littering.
Pilgrimage was temporarily closed due to heavy rain.
