Maharashtra Farmer Receives ₹2.30 as Crop Loss Compensation, Officials Cite Glitch
A farmer in Maharashtra named Madhukar Patil was very surprised when he received only ₹2.30 in his bank account as money for his crops that were ruined by heavy rain.
He should have gotten much more, over ₹1.5 lakh.
The government official said this tiny amount was a mistake, like a computer glitch.
They explained that this ₹2.30 was just the very last bit of money from a different claim he had made last year.
He had already been paid almost all of that previous compensation.
The official promised that the farmer would get the correct amount for his recent crop loss, and that they had explained this to him.
Even Uddhav Thackeray, a political leader, talked about this surprising small payment.
A Maharashtra farmer received only ₹2.30 as crop loss compensation due to unseasonal rains.
The farmer, Madhukar Baburao Patil, was eligible for ₹1,53,110 for his land.
Officials attributed the ₹2.30 credit to a technical glitch, stating it was the remaining amount from a previous claim.
The farmer had already received ₹72,464 out of a total ₹72,466 for a Kharif 2023 claim, with ₹2.30 being the final discrepancy.
The incident was highlighted by farmer Madhukar Patil and mentioned by political leader Uddhav Thackeray.
