Modi Praises Indian Hockey Teams, Congratulates Belgium on World Cup

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in New Delhi.

He congratulated Belgium and the Netherlands for hosting the Hockey World Cup 2026.

Germany won the men’s tournament, and Argentina won the women’s tournament.

India’s men’s team finished eighth after losing to Belgium in a penalty shootout.

India’s women’s team finished fifth after beating Germany 3-1.

Modi praised the effort and dedication of both Indian teams.

De Wever was visiting India for three days.

The two countries also want to improve cooperation in trade, defence, renewable energy and technology.
