India Plans to End Power-Sector SCADA Imports After 2030

India Plans to End Power-Sector SCADA Imports After 2030

India uses SCADA systems to watch and control important electricity equipment.

These systems help utilities manage power plants, substations and other grid assets.

Much of the key technology is still bought from foreign companies.

Local companies do some assembly, maintenance and support, but domestic content is below 20%.

India wants to develop its own hardware and software by 2028-29.

The government plans to stop importing these systems for the power sector after 2030.

Officials say this could reduce risks from supply problems, restricted technology access and cyber threats.

A proposed mission and government funding would help build and test the Indian systems.
