Centre Fast-Tracks Development of Adilabad Joint User Airport
The government plans to speed up work on an airport in Adilabad.
The airport would be shared by defence and civilian users.
This means military aircraft and regular passenger services could use the same airfield.
Officials from three government bodies will coordinate the project.
They will prepare detailed plans for construction and operations.
The Indian Air Force already has 369.45 acres of land there.
It needs another 1,500 acres from the Telangana Government.
A civil terminal and an aircraft repair facility are also planned.
The project is intended to improve travel in North Telangana and strengthen defence infrastructure.
The Centre will fast-track development of Adilabad Airport and a Joint User Airfield to improve regional connectivity.
The Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Telangana Government will each nominate a nodal officer by the end of next week.
Officials will expedite the Detailed Project Report and Master Plan for the Joint User Airfield.
