Supreme Court Hears Wangchuk's NSA Detention Case
Sonam Wangchuk, a climate activist, was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) on September 26, 2025, two days after violent protests in Ladakh left four people dead and 90 injured.
The government says he incited the violence.
His wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo, appeared before the Supreme Court, arguing that his speech was meant to stop the violence, not cause it.
She said the facts are being manipulated to make him look like a criminal.
The court heard that Wangchuk was not given the full reasons for his detention on time, which is against the law.
The hearing will continue on January 12.
