Dipke Calls Tushar Gandhi’s Support Patriotism Certificate; Critics Disagree
Abhijeet Dipke leads a group called the Cockroach Janta Party.
He met Tushar Gandhi, who is Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson.
Dipke said Tushar Gandhi’s support proved that his group is patriotic.
Tushar Gandhi also praised Dipke and the group’s protest.
The article says that being related to a famous person does not automatically make someone the judge of patriotism.
It also says Tushar Gandhi has strong political opinions against the BJP and RSS.
The article questions whether his support was politically motivated.
Finally, it discusses old social-media posts by Tushar Gandhi that the article describes as sexist.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke met Tushar Gandhi on August 19 and described his encouragement as the biggest certificate of the group’s patriotism.
Dipke said the CJP’s agitation followed Mahatma Gandhi’s path of peace and non-violence, despite reports in the article that its July 20 protest became violent.
Tushar Gandhi praised Dipke and the CJP protesters, calling the protest a modern-day Satyagraha and supporting their School Thik Karo campaign.
The article argues that Tushar Gandhi’s family connection to Mahatma Gandhi does not give him exclusive authority to determine who is patriotic.
The article also highlights Tushar Gandhi’s reported anti-BJP and anti-RSS political views, past political activity, and earlier sexist social-media posts.
