Punjab Commission Orders SBI Refund Rs 1.64 Lakh
A man in Punjab lost Rs 1.64 lakh when his online bank account was used without his permission.
He asked the bank for help many times, but the bank did not fix the problem.
The Punjab Consumer Commission looked into the case and decided the bank must give the man back his money.
The commission also said the man should get Rs 15,000 for the stress he felt and Rs 10,000 for the costs of going to court.
The bank must follow this order, or it will be in trouble.
Punjab consumer commission orders State Bank of India to refund Rs 1.64 lakh to a customer who lost money in an unauthorised online transaction.
Commission cites failure to resolve repeated requests as deficiency in service.
Bank was found unable to prove complainant's negligence and had illegally rejected the claim.
Order also awards Rs 15,000 compensation for harassment and mental agony, and Rs 10,000 for litigation expenses.
The decision was issued on July 28.
