Vodafone Idea gets 10-year AGR relief
Vodafone Idea, a big telecom company in India, got some good news.
The government said they don't have to pay a lot of money they owe right away.
Instead, they can pay a little bit each year for the next 10 years.
This will help them save money and buy things they need to make their internet and phone services better.
The government will also check if they owe less money than they thought.
Other companies like Bharti Airtel might ask for similar help.
This could also make it easier for Vodafone Idea to get more money from banks and maybe even find a new partner to help them grow.
However, some banks are still careful because the company has been losing customers and market share.
Vodafone Idea (Vi) gets a 10-year breather on AGR payments, starting March 2026.
Vi to pay Rs 124 crore annually for six years, then Rs 100 crore annually for four years.
AGR liabilities will be reassessed and finalized by a government-appointed committee.
Vi's current AGR dues stand at Rs 87,695 crore as of December 2025.
Relief expected to help Vi raise bank debt for 4G and 5G network expansion, but some banks remain cautious due to the company's financial situation.
