Opposition Demands Debate on BLO Deaths
Some leaders in the state assembly are very upset because several Booth Level Officers (BLOs) died while updating the voter list.
They think the government didn't give enough time for this big task and want to talk about it more.
They also want the government to give money to the families of those who died and offer jobs to their relatives.
One leader even thinks the government might be trying to remove certain people from the voter list based on their caste or religion.
Opposition demands a debate on the deaths of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator Manoj Paras alleges the exercise was rushed and demands Rs 1 crore compensation for the bereaved families.
Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra questions the short time frame provided for the exercise, given the state's size and population.
Opposition seeks jobs for the kin of the deceased BLOs.
Paras alleges the exercise was undertaken to delete names of voters on the basis of caste and religion.
