NGT Orders Action Against Delhi Vehicles Without Valid PUCs

The National Green Tribunal told the Delhi government that its vehicles must have valid pollution certificates.

These certificates show whether vehicles meet pollution-control rules.

In June 2025, Delhi government departments controlled 30,995 vehicles.

Only 14,569 of them had valid certificates.

Another 12,399 had expired certificates, and officials had no certificate information for 4,027 vehicles.

Cameras had identified 1,360 vehicles with expired certificates, and traffic authorities issued them challans.

The tribunal said government vehicles do not get an exemption from these rules.

It also directed departments to renew certificates, keep proper records, and scrap vehicles that are too old to receive certificates.
