New intermediaries supply Russian crude to India
The US put sanctions on two big Russian oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.
This meant that these companies couldn't sell as much oil to India.
Before the sanctions, they were sending a lot of oil to India.
But after the sanctions, their share went down a lot.
Now, some new companies, many from the UAE, are helping to send Russian oil to India.
These new companies weren't doing this before, but now they are helping to fill the gap.
The US gave a deadline for all dealings with Rosneft and Lukoil to be wound down, and after that, the direct oil dispatches from these companies to India went down a lot.
The new companies are now taking their place in the market.
US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil led to a significant decrease in their direct oil dispatches to India.
New intermediaries, many based in the UAE, are now supplying Russian crude to Indian refiners.
Rosneft and Lukoil's share in Russian oil loadings for India dropped from 70.4% in October to 17.4% in December.
The US announced sanctions on October 22, with a deadline of November 21 for all dealings to be wound down.
The new intermediaries include Redwood Global Supply FZE, Alghaf Marine DMCC, RusExport, Ethos Energy, Arcadia International FZE, Rosewood Resources, and Vistula Delta.
