Water Tank Built for 5,000 Collapses in UP's Sitapur
Imagine a big water tank that was supposed to give clean water to 5,000 villagers.
This tank cost a lot of money but suddenly fell down.
This happened in Uttar Pradesh, India, and it's not the only one to fail.
The government is very disappointed and is checking all the other water tanks.
They're also punishing the people responsible.
This whole thing is part of a bigger project to get clean water to everyone in the country, but these failures show there are serious problems.
A water tank in Sitapur, built under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, collapsed, affecting over 5,000 villagers.
The tank cost Rs 5.31 crore and was commissioned in January 2024.
This is the second tank collapse in Sitapur and the fifth in Uttar Pradesh under the same scheme.
The State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM) took action, suspending/dismissing 12 employees and blacklisting the construction agency, NCC Limited.
A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the collapse and a technical audit of all Har Ghar Jal tanks in Sitapur has been ordered.
