Women’s Group Demands Manipur Assembly Session and DBT Release

A women’s group called Imagi Meira held a protest in front of the Manipur assembly in Imphal.

They asked the assembly to meet right away to talk about the state’s law and order problems and a special rule called Suspension of Operations.

The group’s president, Sujata Thokchom, said all lawmakers should join the meeting, no matter which party they belong to.

In another protest in Kangpokpi district, many people who had to leave their homes because of conflict were asking for money that the government promised to give them each month.

They said they had not received the money for July and wanted the government to give it soon and set a regular schedule for the payments.

The protests show that people want the government to act quickly to keep the state safe and to help families who have been displaced.
