Heavy Rains Secure Hyderabad Water Supply Through 2027
Heavy rains in Hyderabad have filled up the water reservoirs, so the city will not run out of drinking water until 2027.
The water board supplies about 550 million gallons a day, and the city is currently using a little more than that.
The rains have increased the water coming into the Sripada Yellampalli project, which is a big source of water for Hyderabad.
Pumping has started again at two other water projects after they reached full capacity.
Even though one of the main water sources, Singur, is under repair and is giving less water, the extra water from the Godavari river will keep the city supplied.
Heavy rains have raised reservoir levels, securing water supply until 2027.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board supplies 550 MGD, with current draw 576.55 MGD.
Sripada Yellampalli project inflows rose to 1,91,275 cusecs and storage doubled to 16.21 tmc ft.
Pumping resumed at Nandi pump house and Kadem project after reaching full capacity.
Singur repair work reduced output to 69.5 MGD, but Godavari sources will cover demand.
