Anthropic Brings Claude Editing Tools Into Google Workspace
Anthropic has brought Claude into Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
People with paid Claude plans can try it in public beta.
Claude appears in a sidebar beside the file they are using.
It can help rewrite documents, work with spreadsheet data, and create presentation slides.
In Sheets, it can also use Python to clean or combine selected data.
In Slides, it can use the presentation’s existing look and check for things that may be hard to read.
People can review suggested edits before they are applied, or allow Claude to make all requested changes.
Beta connectors also let people ask Claude in its chat interface to create or update Google files.
Those connectors follow the files’ existing sharing permissions.
Anthropic announced Claude for Google Workspace on October 6, 2026, with rollout reported the following day.
The add-on is in public beta for users on all paid Claude plans and opens Claude in a sidebar in Docs, Sheets and Slides.
Claude can edit Docs while preserving formatting, and suggest changes for users to approve or reject.
In Sheets, Claude can create formulas, pivot tables, charts and tabs, and process selected data ranges with Python.
Claude can build Slides using existing themes and layouts; beta connectors also let users create or edit Google files from Claude chat using existing sharing permissions.
