AIIMS Study: Two-Drug Combination Effective for High Blood Pressure
Doctors have found that combining two blood pressure medicines into one pill is a simple and effective way to help people control their high blood pressure.
A study in India, led by AIIMS, tested three different combinations of these pills on over 1,200 patients.
The results showed that all three combinations worked equally well and were safe, with about 70% of patients getting their blood pressure under control.
This is much better than what usually happens.
The doctors think this single-pill approach could help a lot of people in India and other South Asian countries manage their high blood pressure and stay healthy by preventing serious health problems like heart attacks.
AIIMS-led study finds two-drug combinations effective for hypertension.
Study compared amlodipine plus perindopril, amlodipine plus indapamide, and perindopril plus indapamide.
All three combinations effectively reduced blood pressure and were safe.
Around 70% of patients achieved controlled blood pressure with the combinations.
Findings support single-pill two-drug therapy for better hypertension management.
