Vi Business Expands IoT with Smart Gas Metering
Vi Business, which is part of a big Indian telecom company, has added new smart gas meters to its products.
These meters help gas companies in cities keep track of gas usage better.
The Indian government wants to make sure gas companies use modern technology, and these smart meters can help.
They can stop gas from being wasted or stolen.
The government thinks that by the end of this decade, cities will use a lot of natural gas, so these smart meters are important for the future.
Vi Business, the enterprise arm of Vi, has expanded its IoT portfolio with Smart Gas Metering solutions for City Gas Distributions (CGDs).
This move strengthens Vi's commitment to modernizing utility infrastructure and enhancing operational standards as per the Government's initiatives.
The CGD sector is projected to become India's largest natural gas consumer, accounting for nearly one-third of the total volume by the end of this decade.
Smart Gas Metering solutions are crucial for CGD companies to combat Lost and Unaccounted Gas (LUAG) due to leakage, theft, manual billing errors, and pilferage.
Vi Business is a pioneer in the smart meter energy ecosystem, having deployed India's first smart meters in 2018.
