Baggage Chaos Hits Airport; IndiGo Flights Affected
There was a big problem at the airport where the machines that move luggage from one place to another stopped working properly.
This happened mostly at a place called Portal C where IndiGo flights operate.
Because of this, many people who flew on IndiGo did not get their bags when they reached their destinations.
The problem started on Saturday and continued until Sunday evening.
The airport had to move the luggage by hand and use special machines to check the bags.
Some flights were delayed because of this.
The airport said the problem was caused by too many bags piling up on the machines, which made the sensors stop working right.
They are trying to fix the problem.
This is not the first time IndiGo has had a big luggage problem.
In early December, they had to cancel a lot of flights because of a similar issue.
Baggage conveyor belt failure at Portal C affected IndiGo flights, causing delays and lost luggage.
More than 150 pieces of luggage were not loaded on Saturday, and less than 100 on Sunday.
The issue was caused by intermittent snags in the conveyor belts and sensor malfunctions due to over accumulation of luggage.
Airport officials had to manually handle luggage and use standalone X-ray machines for scanning.
Some flights were delayed, and luggage was sent to destinations on subsequent flights.
