CISF Assumes Security of Bhakra Dam Amid Sabotage Concerns
Imagine a very important place, like a big dam that holds a lot of water.
Before, guards from the local police watched over it.
But, people worried that bad guys might try to harm the dam.
So, a special national security team called CISF, with many trained guards, is now in charge of keeping the dam safe.
They will protect the dam walls and the machines that control the water.
The local police will still help, but in smaller ways.
One of the nearby states, Punjab, didn't like this idea at first and said no, but the national government decided it was important for safety.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has taken over the security of the Bhakra Dam project.
The deployment of 296 CISF personnel was sanctioned due to risks of sabotage and terrorism.
CISF will secure key areas including dam walls, water gates, and power stations.
State police have been moved to smaller support roles, assisting the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).
The AAP government in Punjab had previously opposed the decision and passed a resolution against it.
