Bombay HC Orders Maharashtra to Pay Rs. 3.5 Crore in Unpaid Compensation
The Bombay High Court told the Maharashtra government to pay Rs.
3.5 crore to people who were supposed to get money from the government but didn't.
A lawyer named Satyam Atul Surana told the court that the government hadn't paid this money in 136 cases, even though the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission had said they should.
The court also told the government to make sure they follow these rules in the future by appointing a special officer to handle it.
Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commission is looking into a complaint about fines imposed on a legally approved parking lot in Bandra Kurla Complex, where a resident was fined despite parking in a designated area.
The Commission noted that the police should have refunded the fine and that the government needs to ensure compliance with human rights.
Bombay High Court directed Maharashtra government to deposit Rs. 3.5 crore for unpaid compensation to victims.
The court was hearing a PIL by lawyer Satyam Atul Surana highlighting non-compliance with MSHRC recommendations.

The court asked the government to consult with the State Chief Secretary and appoint a nodal officer for compliance.
