Sunali Khatun Gives Birth After Repatriation
Sunali Khatun, a woman from West Bengal, was accused of being from Bangladesh and sent there.
She was pregnant and had her son with her.
The Supreme Court of India said she should come back to India.
She gave birth to a baby boy on January 5, 2024, at a hospital in West Bengal.
Both the mother and the baby are healthy.
Some people are happy for her and say it's a good thing that she is safe now.
Her family is still waiting to be brought back to India.
The people who sent her away said they did it because they thought she was from Bangladesh, but others say it was not right to send a pregnant woman away.
Sunali Khatun, a migrant resident of Murarai in Birbhum district, gave birth to a baby boy on January 5, 2024, at Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital.
She was arrested by the Delhi Police in June 2023 on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi national and was deported to Bangladesh.
Sunali was repatriated to India following a Supreme Court order due to her advanced stage of pregnancy.
Both the mother and the newborn are stable and doing fine, according to hospital sources and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam.
Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee expressed joy and called the development a 'triumph of humanity' amid the injustice she was subjected to.
