KKR to Name New Captain After Rahane's Retirement
Kolkata Knight Riders, a cricket team in India, had a captain named Ajinkya Rahane who decided to stop playing.
Now the team needs a new leader for the next season.
The most likely choice is Rinku Singh, who has been the vice‑captain and is praised for his leadership.
Other possible leaders are Sunil Narine, a long‑time player, and Rovman Powell, a West Indian cricketer.
The team will choose a new captain at a special auction or by trading players before the 2027 season starts.
Ajinkya Rahane retired from KKR, leaving captaincy vacant for 2027 season.
Vice‑captain Rinku Singh is the front‑runner to take over, with KKR’s coach praising his leadership.
Alternatives include long‑time spinner Sunil Narine and West Indian Rovman Powell.
Rinku Singh has led Meerut Mavericks to a UPT20 title and Uttar Pradesh in List A cricket.
