Delhi Air Pollution Protest Turns Violent
On Sunday, people gathered at India Gate in Delhi to protest against the very bad air quality in the city.
The air was so polluted that it was harmful to health.
During the protest, some people used chilli spray on the police, which is very unusual.
The police said the protesters were blocking the road and not letting ambulances pass.
Some protesters also held up pictures and shouted slogans supporting a famous Maoist leader who was recently killed.
The police arrested 22 people and said they will take legal action against those who supported the Maoist leader.
A group called the Delhi Coordination Committee for Clean Air said the government is not doing enough to fix the pollution problem and is only using temporary solutions.
The BJP leaders said the protest was not about pollution but about promoting Maoist ideas.
The protesters said they used chilli spray because the police were aggressive and detained children.
The air quality in Delhi was very bad, with numbers showing it was dangerous for people's health.
Protesters gathered at India Gate to demand action on Delhi's severe air pollution, with AQI around 400.
The protest turned violent as some demonstrators allegedly used chilli spray on police personnel, injuring 3-4 officers.
Police arrested 22 people for obstructing official work, blocking the road, and using chilli spray.
Controversial slogans and posters supporting Maoist leader Madvi Hidma were raised during the protest, prompting legal action.
