Delhi to Bar Petrol, Diesel, CNG Light Goods Vehicles

Delhi to Bar Petrol, Diesel, CNG Light Goods Vehicles

Delhi’s air-quality authority wants fewer polluting delivery vehicles on its roads.

Starting in 2027, Delhi will not register new petrol, diesel, or CNG light goods vehicles.

Nearby high-density districts will follow later that year.

The plan encourages businesses to use electric vehicles instead.

The authority said these vehicles are a small part of the fleet but create a larger share of emissions.

The restrictions will gradually expand to other parts of the Delhi NCR in 2028 and 2029.

The authority also wants stone-crushing factories to monitor dust and wash truck wheels.

It is funding research to better understand and forecast pollution.
