Bapatla is celebrating 75 years as a municipality.

Its municipality was officially created on April 2, 1951.

The town was important even before that happened.

In 1913, people held the first Andhra Mahasabha meeting there.

About 800 delegates attended the meeting.

They discussed creating a separate province for Telugu-speaking people.

This movement later helped lead to Andhra State being formed in 1953.

The jubilee celebrations will honor Bapatla’s civic and cultural history.
