Praggnanandhaa draws with Sevian in Sinquefield Cup opener

Some of the world's best chess players met in St. Louis for a big tournament called the Sinquefield Cup.

An Indian player named R Praggnanandhaa played against an American player named Samuel Sevian.

When chess players are very evenly matched, they sometimes agree to share the points instead of one winning.

That is what happened here, and the game ended in a draw after 48 moves.

Most of the other games in the first round were draws too.

But one player, Fabiano Caruana, managed to win his game, so he became the early leader.

The tournament has ten players who will play nine rounds against each other.

They are competing for a big prize pot of $475,000.

This tournament is almost the last stop in a series called the Grand Chess Tour.

Praggnanandhaa started off safely by giving his opponent no chance to beat him.
