Government Warns of Fallow Land Due to El Nino
Many farmers in Telangana are facing a tough decision this year.
Because of El Nino, which affects the weather, there might not be enough rain for their usual crops.
The government is worried that a lot of farmland, about 32 lakh acres, might be left empty.
This could mean less money for the farmers.
To help, the government is suggesting they grow different kinds of crops that need less water, like fodder crops.
They are also asking for more seeds to help farmers grow these crops.
However, the farmers are still unsure if they should plant these crops or leave their land empty.
The government hopes for some normal rain, but the weather predictions are not very good, especially from October to December.
32 lakh acres of agricultural land may remain fallow due to El Nino-affected rainfall.
Estimated 7-10 lakh farmers may be affected, facing income loss this Kharif season.
Government encourages farmers to grow irrigated dry crops and fodder crops for some income.
150 tonnes of fodder crop seeds available, with a request for 700 tonnes more.
Groundwater levels expected to drop, with below-normal rain predicted for most of the state.
