AAP Wins Punjab Rural Polls Amid Allegations
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won a big victory in the recent rural elections in Punjab.
They won most of the zones in both zila parishads and panchayat samitis.
The Congress party came in second, and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was third.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was fourth.
The Congress leader, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, said that the AAP won by using unfair methods, but he is happy with how well the Congress did despite the challenges.
He believes the Congress will do even better in the future when the playing field is fair.
The AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal, said the win shows that people in rural areas support the AAP government.
The elections were held on December 14, and the results were announced on December 18.
AAP won 63% of zila parishad zones and 54% of panchayat samiti zones in Punjab rural elections.
Congress secured the second spot, followed by SAD and BJP.
Congress leader Amrinder Singh Raja Warring alleged AAP's misuse of power and administration.
AAP's Arvind Kejriwal claimed the win as a stamp of approval for the Bhagwant Mann-led government.
Polling was held on December 14, with results declared on December 18.
