NSE IPO: SEBI Hints at Approval This Month
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) in India might get approval for its IPO soon.
The head of SEBI, the market regulator, said they might give the necessary approval this month.
The NSE's leader, Ashish Kumar Chauhan, visited a temple and saw this as a good sign.
The NSE has been trying to go public since 2016 but faced delays due to regulatory issues.
They agreed to pay a large settlement amount to resolve these issues.
Even before the IPO, NSE's unlisted shares are trading at high prices, making the exchange very valuable.
The NSE is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world, with a big market share in different trading segments.
SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey hinted that the NoC for NSE IPO could be issued by this month.
NSE Managing Director Ashish Kumar Chauhan visited Tirupati and saw the SEBI Chairman's statement as a divine sign.
NSE has been trying to list since 2016, with delays due to a regulatory probe into its co-location facilities.
NSE agreed to pay around Rs 1,400 crore to settle the co-location and dark fibre cases.
Unlisted NSE shares are trading at around Rs 2,000 per share, valuing the exchange at approximately Rs 5 trillion.
