West Bengal restructures Anti-Corruption Branch in corruption crackdown

The West Bengal government wants a cleaner, more honest government.

To help with this, it is making big changes to its special anti-corruption police team.

This team is called the Anti-Corruption Branch, or ACB.

The ACB was created in August 2012.

Its job is to check government workers, local councils, and public companies for cheating or wrongdoing.

The team works from Kolkata, a big city in India.

Recently, three senior police officers joined the ACB from the Intelligence Branch.

Their job is to help investigate complaints about corruption and administrative irregularities.

This is all part of a bigger effort called a "crackdown" on corruption.

The goal is to make sure public money and rules are handled honestly.
