India Targets 100 GW of Wind Capacity by 2030

India wants to have more than 100 gigawatts of wind power capacity by 2030.

The country had 59.20 gigawatts installed by September 30, 2026.

Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said India added more wind capacity in FY2026 than in any previous year.

He expects additions in FY2027 to be even higher.

Windergy India 2026 brought together companies and delegates from many countries in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu’s energy minister discussed the state’s role and its wind repowering policy.

Organisers also announced collaborations intended to support technology development.

Two reports about energy and the wind sector were released at the event.

Joshi said continued growth will require cooperation among government, businesses, researchers and international partners.
